Meaning

Creepy Nuts (クリーピーナッツ) is a two-person Japanese hip-hop ラップ unit formed in 2013, made up of MC R-指定 (R-Shitei, born Ryohei Yamashita, 1991) on vocals/lyrics and DJ 松永 (DJ Matsunaga, born Kunihiko Matsunaga, 1990) on turntables and production. The name is a self-deprecating joke: "creepy" pokes fun at their own awkward, nerdy public image, while "nuts" evokes the American slang for something crazy or wild — together suggesting "the creepy weirdos."

Both members built serious credentials before teaming up. R-指定 is a three-time champion (2012–2014) of the Ultimate MC Battle, one of Japan's most prestigious freestyle rap 挑戦 competitions, known for a rapid-fire, technically dense flow. DJ 松永 is a turntablist who became the first Japanese DJ to win the DMC World DJ Championships' battle category in 2019, the sport's top international title. Their 相方 (partner) chemistry — R-指定's wordplay-heavy raps set against DJ 松永's scratch-driven, genre-hopping beats — is the group's core signature, often built around a call-and-response 掛け合い energy live on stage.

Released January 7, 2024 as the opening theme for Mashle: Magic and Muscles season 2, "Bling-Bang-Bang-Born" topped the Billboard Japan Hot 100 for eight consecutive weeks — the group's first No. 1 as lead artists — and reached No. 8 on the Billboard Global 200, an unusually strong international showing for a Japanese hip-hop track.

The song's global explosion, however, came from the anime's closing credits sequence, in which the muscular protagonist Mash performs a deadpan, oddly hypnotic dance to the beat.
