お神輿

お神輿(みこし)は祭(まつ)りのときに町(まち)を練(ね)り歩(ある)く神様(かみさま)の乗(の)り物(もの)です。

A mikoshi is a portable shrine that carries a deity through the town during festivals.

夏祭(なつまつ)りでお神輿(みこし)を担(かつ)ぎました。とても重(おも)かったけど、楽(たの)しかったです。

I carried a mikoshi at the summer festival. It was really heavy, but so much fun.

「わっしょい！」という掛(か)け声(ごえ)とともに、お神輿(みこし)が通(とお)りを進(すす)んでいった。
