He came as a witness to testify concerning that light.

ただ、光についてあかしするために来(くる)たのである。

He came only as a witness to the light.

しかし、あなた方は私たちの証を受け入れません。

But still you people do not accept our testimony.

わたしたちは、知っていることを話し、見たことをあかししているのに、あなたがたは、わたしたちのあかしを受け入れません。

We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
